Emma Cannaert
With a big fascination for the Chinese language and culture, Emma obtained in 2020 her master degree in Chinese studies at KU Leuven. In 2018, she left to discover China herself and she started studying at Nanjing University, one of the top universities in China. Now, Emma is working as a Business Support Officer and is mostly in charge of the digital marketing of AGIO Capital. She has also obtained her postgraduate degree in HR management, which she is putting to good use in her position. Never too old to learn new things and always be curious!
When did you join AGIO Capital and how did you get in touch with us?
I did my internship with Henk and Patrick in 2020, during my master in Chinese studies. The team was rather small back then, so I only worked closely with them. I kept in touch with Henk and in October of that same year, I got myself a permanent position in the team.
Why did you join us?
The business model of Agio Capital and its sister companies was very appealing to me. I loved working here during my internship and it was my ambition to work with the team one day. The strong connection with China was the second thing that triggered me, being a sinologist pur sang. I wanted to witness the dealmaking business between Europe and China first hand.
What do you like about your job, what’s your favorite part?
The most interesting part about my job is the people I get to meet. Not only the different characters within the team, but also the people we get to meet at events, during meetings, the personal relationships you build with them. That truly makes the difference when closing a deal.
What are your future ambitions?
I have recently finished my postgraduate in HR management. It would be wonderful to pursue my ambitions in HR by creating a sustainable HR policy for Agio.
What are your hobbies, what do you do in your spare time?
I love to try new recipes and to cook elaborate meals for my boyfriend and extended family. My boyfriend and I also love to travel to new places all over the world. When I was younger, I was enrolled in a sculpting class in the local arts academy, but had to quit due to moving to a different city. One day, I hope to return and continue my passion for arts. I also try to meditate every day, but sometimes I fail to do so.
And at last, why is AGIO different from the rest?
It’s all about the people: the people we work with, the people in our team, the people involved in every step of the way. We really focus on looking for the best solution for our people, with our own people, almost tailormade for our clients. That personal approach would be our main asset, according to me.
